Our Story

The dream to create The Fickle Fig Farm Market began in 2013 with a small 5-acre boutique farm. We sold our produce at a farm stand on the Lochside Trail in Saanich BC, and at the North Saanich Farmer’s Market and the Sidney night market. We raised hens, pigs, sheep, goats, honeybees, and grew a variety of fruits and veggies. Fast forward to 2016 and our dream truly grew to fruition when we found a permanent home on Mills Road in North Saanich. We took over an old nursery and converted it into a full kitchen, market, bistro, cafe, bakery and gelateria. Soon after a little pico-brewery came on site, the perfect haven for a pastry chef and farmer by trade.

Today the Fickle Fig continues to offer the most unique farm to table experience focusing on local meats and produce in its ever-rotating daily menu.

  • They make THE BEST treats here! I keep trying new options and everything I eat is just scrumptious! My favourite are the almond croissant and the lemon meringue bars but I picked bread pudding tonight and it’s too yummy! I had to share! I also love the varied lunch sandwiches and the take home macaroni and cheese is the best I’ve eaten!

  • Came here on a recommendation from a friend to try it out while driving out to Victoria from the ferry terminal. A nice quaint shop with a good selection of pastries, bread, pies, and sandwiches, as well as some local products ranging from meat, to skin care products, candles, jam, honey, and more. Ending up getting a sandwich and some pastries and they were very yummy! Would definitely recommend to everyone to take a detour in Sidney to the Fickle Fig.

  • They have a smaller outlet on Beacon Ave in Sidney, which is just a few steps down the street for me. Everything they have is good quality, but I'm giving 5 stars for the gelato - lots of amazing flavors plus always at least two sorbets. Would not be out of place in Italy.

  • This is a true hidden gem. Really enjoyed their market and open space. Staff is AWESOME. Food and pastries were fantastic. Definitely worth stopping in. Will make sure to keep this spot on my regular shopping run!
